The Indianola School
District, composed of pre-kindergarten through senior high, supports
more than 3,200 students. The district is governed by a seven-member
Board of Directors and covers 155 square miles of Warren County.

Indianola community, Simpson College, a small four year liberal arts

Des Moines Metro Opera,
founded in 1973 by Robert L. Larsen, is the largest performing arts

What's Up in Indianola" refers to its status as host of the annual
National Hot Air Balloon Classic. Each summer, pilots compete for cash

Balloon Races and Nite-Glo or the Arts and Crafts Festival and
the Annual Balloon Classic parade. Be sure to stop
and see the Balloon Museum for actual balloons, photographs,
trophies and other fine collector's pieces representative of this unique

As Iowa's
capital city, Des Moines is a hub of government action, business

Blank Park Zoo, located on the south side of Des Moines, with over 800

Principal Park is
located at the confluence of the Des Moines River and the Raccoon
River in downtown Des Moines. The stadium seats 12,000 fans and has
45 luxury suites, 12 of which are in a building in left field that
also houses the Cub Club restaurant.
Located along the banks of the Des Moines River, the Iowa Events
Center is a four-venue, multi-purpose sports, entertainment,
convention and expo complex all under one inter-connected roof! It
includes The Wells Fargo Arena, Hy-Vee Hall, Veterans Memorial
Auditorium and the Polk County Convention Complex.

Rathbun Lake is
located in south central Iowa. The Lake is located in Appanoose,
Wayne, and Lucas Counties and is near the towns of Centerville,
Albia, Corydon, and Chariton. Rathbun Lake is 75 miles south east of
Des Moines, Iowa, which is the closest metropolitan area. With major
highways leading to Rathbun Lake including US Highway 34, US Highway
2 and Iowa State Highway 5, you have easy access from anywhere in
Iowa.
Rathbun Lake’s 8 parks, 2 marinas, 11,000 acres of water and 21,000
acres provide space for outdoor recreation activities. Camping,
sightseeing, fishing, boating, picnicking and hunting are favorite
activities. The lake’s fish and wildlife resources provide sightseers,
fisherman, and hunters ample opportunities for their sports.
Honey Creek Resort State Park is an 800 acre park on Rathbun Lake that
is currently being developed as a four-season park for outdoor
enthusiasts. Honey Creek Resort State Park will include a golf course,
cabins, lodge, conference center, trails, boat ramp, swimming beach and
